About the New Zealand Drug Foundation

We have been at the forefront of major alcohol and other drug policy debates for over 30 years, advocating for policies and practices based on the best evidence available.

We recognise drugs, legal and illegal, are a part of everyday life experience, so we are safety focused and take a harm reduction approach in all our work.

Our vision is for Aotearoa New Zealand to be free from drug harm. We achieve this through our leadership, by using the best evidence and research to inform our work, and by supporting communities and inspiring action that promotes wellbeing and prevents drug harm.

The four critical outcomes we working toward are:

  1. Schools keep young people engaged in education
  2. Drug laws are changed to treat drug use as a health issue
  3. Prevention, harm reduction and treatment services are fully resourced and are responsive to community need
  4. Communities are supported with innovative solutions to respond to new challenges.
